RODDY DE LA TOUR

Born near Paris in 1937
Draw from is childhood. Start to write is first poem at 10 years old.
1953-1960 – Shape is taste for arts with Gaston Poulain, Curator of the Museum Goya and Jaurès in Castres the lamented art critic of the magazine "Les lettres françaises "-
Write many poems in a classic form – exchange letter with François Mauriac.

1954 – First exhibition of is painting work in the city of Nevers - Nièvre.
1954-1957 - Permanent exhibition in the family castle (le Château des Révériens at Garchizy, Nièvre).
1957-1969 - Conscript during the colonial events in Algeria. Created many ‘’humanist’’ poems on the problems of this period – Some are published in the army newspaper “Le Bled “in despite of there anti militarist spirit...
Others poem are printed in an anthology " Ecrits dans le soleil / writing on the sun “Grassin Editor. Paris. 1960.

Roddy participate at the radio program "Au coin de la rue” presented by Max. Roire on Radio France 5 (at Algiers in this time.)

Stay one year in the Sahara Oriental. North Africa.
1961 – Collaborate with the Poet Madam Clara Essey for many texts of the Festival of Vaison la Romaine.
1962-1967: Technical research in the pictorial domain and literature creation (poems, essays, novels). Roddy have not many time for art because he have high responsibility in Cooperative movement.
1967 - Regional Manager of a branch of the group of publisher Hachette.
1968- Study the different aspect and technique of art handicraft and prepare a few exhibitions of creator artists
1969-1979 – To found and manage “La Maison de l'Artisanat / the house of Handicraft” in Moulins - Allier - Organize exhibitions of the work of artists and craftsman (For example the sculptor Pierre Sabatier).
From 1970, Give a part of is time for free voluntary social work.
1972 – Go for a Study trip on the problem of drug in Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India; organize some conferences in youth’s hostels and schools after return in France.
1975 – During a stay of tree month in the Benedictine priory of Saint Lambert des Bois (Port Royal des Champs) Find the basement of is actual poetic style. / 1979 – Study trip (India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka).
1980-1981 – Study trip in New Caledonia. Stay in the tribal villages. First journey in the island of Java –Indonesia – where he discovered the possibility of the Batik technique – Roddy decide to learn this ancestral technique of decoration of fabric with wax and dye. Made is first Batik with is drawing created for tapestry.
1982-1985 – Start is painter professional carrier. With other artist, organize some Exhibition in the center of France. Creation of is stylized figure symbol of human. (This character has a spindly body, an egg for head, no eyes, no mouth, no nose, no ear, but an expressive attitude for to express the problems of the time).
From 1986 – Roddy open a permanent studio in YOGYAKARTA the royal city of the center of Java island (Indonesia) Yogyakarta is one of the high place of the Javanese culture an of the traditional spirituality. Roddy is living in Yogyakarta from this period, a large part of the year.
Many exhibitions in Europe, Asia, America and Oceania (See the below) Roddy put in his picture a part of his spiritual inspiration.
1991- Roddy present in a three dimensional dimensions (sculptures)a few of is making before created by painting technique.
1992 – From a long time inspired by the work of the Master of the Numerology (Pythagoras, Leonardo de Vinci, etc.,) and by the recent discovery of the sciences, to show the connection between the number, the forms and the color. Roddy de la Tour defines a new style to create the inside portrait of the beings or institutions. He gives a concrete expression of the intimate personality revealed by the numerology trough a picture or a sculpture.
1995-1996 – Roddy prepare and organize a series of exhibitions on the theme of the vineyard.
From November 1996 - Roddy decide to give a important fraction of his work for sold in the profit of the disabled children (in particularly the deaf mute) in Indonesia. From this date, Roddy give a big part of his time for this mission. He helps tree schools and the deaf mute foundation in Yogyakarta (Indonesia). In collaboration with Kartika Affandi an Indonesian famous painter in Asia, Roddy open a school for the youths deaf mute where, for the firth time in Indonesia, the education of the unable to hear children start from 2 years old.
From 2001: Roddy de la Tour is accrédited in quality of foreign expert by the Indonesian social department and the general secretariat of Indonesian State.

To day, in the autumn of is live, Roddy continue is humanitarian mission, but give more time for created is pictorial an writing work. He looks to finish and to refine a number of his artistic projects. In particularly Roddy adapt number of his picture with the technique of the serigraphy. He publish about 15 exemplar of is different draw to allow a low price and to give the possibility to all to buy one of his picture.

Roddy de la Tour is the General Manager of ART MEDIA INTERNATIONAL a publisher for the works of International Painters.
